June 15, 2000 "It's going to be very interesting to see how the Hardy Boyz relationship with Lita develops. I think that we can do alot of cool stuff that's never been done before. Lita (Amy Dumas) has alot of talent--I think that she could become the most talented women in wrestling in time. Jeff and I have known her for a while and she is one of our closest friends. I been reading everyone's postings on their opinions about the possible Hardyz-Lita team. Keep them coming." At a tourist attraction, she found a booth where you could take your picture with all sorts of celebrities, including the Hardy Boyz of all people. Amy asked the lady if she could take her picture and have it superimposed with Jeff and I. The lady said yes, and said that there was two different poses - one with your arms crossed and the other doing this symbol that the Hardyz always do. Amy made the lady show her several times how to do the gunz hand gesture and started getting pumped up to pose. When Amy took her sweater off right before taking the picture, the lady looked at her strangely. After taking the photo, the lady kept staring at Amy's tattoo, and said "Are you Lita?" The lady felt silly, but at least Amy got the picture for free. Every time I walk into Amy's kitchen I chuckle, because the first thing I see is that silly picture hanging on her fridge." I think she is starting to get over the hump as far as her injury goes, because she is starting to pick her training back up. It’s been really tough on her both physically and mentally; I know better than anyone. She is the only female to have this major surgery and attempt to come back to the ring. If any female can do it, it’s her; she’s a fighter through and through. She’s hoping for a June or July return." One of Stone's friends' sons, Carrick, has cancer and is a huge Hardy Boyz and Lita fan. Stone and Pearl Jam's promotion people hooked up the meeting because they had also heard we are Pearl Jam fans. It was cool meeting with Carrick, his family, and Stone. They had a great time because besides meeting Team Xtreme, they also met several other WWE Superstars. Stone told us he would take care of us any time we wanted to go see PJ play. Pearl Jam played in Charlotte on April 16, and Amy and I took Stone up on his offer. Upon arriving at the amphitheater, Amy and I got to meet Pearl Jam, which was a very cool experience. We actually got to sit right beside the band on stage as they put on a kick-ass show. Mike McCready was smiling huge as I rocked out on "Corduroy" and "Rockin' in the Free World." Stone kept checking on us during the show to make sure we were having a good time. Eddie is a very charismatic, entertaining performer and was all over the stage. Eddie and Stone's relationship reminds me of the relationship between Jeff and I when we teamed. Stone is a super guy who I don't think gets the credit he deserves for the success of Pearl Jam. Anyhow, the show was awesome, and I want to thank Stone, Eddie, Mike, Jeff, Matt and all the other Pearl Jam people for treating me so well." "Be prepared to pick up Lita's autobiography coming out at the end of the month -- it's a great read and a very inspiring story. While you're at the bookstore, pick up 'Exist 2 Inspire,' the good book of Mattitude, if you haven?t'got it yet." [Credit: WWEMattitude.com]
September 09, 2003 "Speaking of serious neck surgeries, Amy, or Lita to the masses, looks great after a challenging 16-month recovery period. I'm sure there are countless Lita fans who are very excited to see her compete within a WWE ring again. I think that she is going to be better than ever, as she's in awesome shape and will have a much more refined and wiser wrestling style. Don't fear though, I'm sure she will be the "extreme" diva that she was before -- just better. Much like Matt Hardy became after he unleashed his strongest asset, Mattitude. I think you will see a more well-rounded character as far as Lita is concerned, both athletically and entertainment-wise." [Credit: WWEMattitude.com]
October 14, 2003 "The Binghamton show was on the 21st of September and bell time was at 2 p.m. I actually wasn't aware it was an afternoon show until the night before. The reason the show was early was due to the fact the RAW-brand pay-per-view was being broadcast that night from Hershey, Pa. About 5 p.m., after wrestling and attempting to eat in Binghamton, I looked at the map to plan our route to Bethlehem, Pa., site of the following day's SmackDown! show. I noticed that Hershey was less than two hours from Bethlehem, and if I kicked it, I could get to Hershey in time for Amy's (Lita) return match. Shannon was cool and didn't mind rolling with me. I knew Amy was third on the show, and I figured if I was there by 8:30 p.m., I would be able to see live her first match back from her grueling 15-month rehab. I thought it would be an awesome surprise and I knew it would mean a lot to her for me to be there. As I started driving, still sick as hell, traffic was terrible due to construction. At one point, Shannon and I went about two miles in forty minutes. Shortly thereafter, I think my road rage kicked in and I started passing cars on the shoulder of the road and driving 100 mph when traffic broke open. It's been a Matt Fact before, but I truly hate, despise, and loathe traffic. We hit a couple of other slow spots on the way, which was killing our time. After driving like a maniac for two hours, I pulled up at the arena in Hershey at 8:58 p.m. Besides being physically sick, I was also now mentally sick because I had went through all this trouble only to miss Amy's return match. Shannon, on the other hand, was terrified after my maniacal driving and probably wanted to punch me. I walked into the building, looked at the first monitor I found, and right then Amy's music started and I saw her walk out of the curtain. It was truly amazing. The first couple of matches had been longer than I expected. I watched her match, and was waiting for her when she came through the curtain into Gorilla position. Amy was shocked and ecstatic to see me, even though she was in pain due to getting injured. That instance typifies how special our relationship is and I like to refer to it as the 'moment of clarity.' It made struggling to get there while being miserable worth every second. Amy and I stayed in Harrisburg that night, although the next day we both had to go to different cities. That night, we both ate ice cream from McDonald's -- it's all my stomach could handle, and all Amy could eat because all of her bottom teeth were loose. That night was very special for both of us, even though we were both unwell." |
